Bells Palsy is a temporary paralysis of the face and is usually caused by trauma or damage to the facial nerves. The symptoms can appear suddenly and often causes one side of the face to droop or some rare cases, both sides of the face.
Chiropractic Care of Bells Palsy
Chiropractic treatment of Bells Palsy could include manual manipulation on certain areas of the face and body that are thought to be contributing to the damage to the nervous system that is causing the facial dropping. Chiropractic care will focus on restoring movement and mobility of the facial muscles.
Bursitis can occur through repetitive motion or minor impact. A bursa is sac of fluid that acts as a cushion to protect the bones and tendons around a joint. When the joint is overused or under pressure for long periods of time, that bursa can become inflamed.
Symptoms
Chiropractic manipulations can reduce joint restrictions or misalignments of the spine and other joints in the body in an effort to reduce inflammation and improve function of both the affected joint and nervous system. Physiotherapies as well as soft tissue therapies can help reduce inflammation and improve function.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome s a painful condition when the median nerve in your wrist gets compressed by swelling. It is one of the most common conditions affecting the nerves. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can be triggered by wrist injuries, over activity of the pituitary gland, hypothyroidism, diabetes, repetitive use of vibrating hand tools and fluid retention during pregnancy or menopause.
Chiropractic Care for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
A thorough examination will be performed of hands, arms, shoulders and neck to determine if the symptoms are due to a repetitive motion or a potential underlying cause. Initial treatment plan may include joint manipulation, stretching and strengthening exercises, cold packs to reduce swelling and immobilizing the wrist to avoid further injury.
Chiropractic care can help relieve constipation/diarrhea through spinal manipulation, particularly in the lower spine. Muscle in the intestine are responsible for pushing the stool to exit the body. There are special cells in the intestine, called ganglion cells, which help make the muscles push. These nerves connect to the celiac ganglion, which also innervate the stomach, liver, gallbladder, spleen, kidney, small intestine, and the colon. The celiac ganglion, in turn connects to the spinal cord (and the brain) through nerve roots that exit the spine in the lower thoracic and upper lumbar region. When there is pressure on these nerve roots caused by misalignment of the vertebrae, it can interfere with the normal function of the bowel, as well as other organs in the digestive system.
Disc bulges and herniations are conditions in which the outer edges of the discs, located between the vertebra, are damaged. This cases the jelly-like center of the disc to bulge or be pushed out. This is a common issue but is not always painful. Some people with this condition feel nothing at all. The quality and intensity of the bulge or herniation for those who do experience pain, depends on the type and position of the bulge/herniation.
Causes:
Chiropractic Care for Disc Bulge/Herniation
To treat a disc bulge or herniation, we will develop a treatment plan that may include spinal manipulation to realign the spine, decompression therapy, manual therapy, therapeutic exercises and McKenzie protocol instructions to help heal the bulge/herniation and provide relief.
The primary structures that make up the female reproductive system are ovaries, vagina, uterus, cervix and pituitary gland and they all require a healthy nerve supply to function properly. If the nerves that supply those structures are irritated or cut off, their health and function is compromised. Chiropractic treatment and help maintain this relationship of the female reproductive system and nervous system by maintaining the health of the spinal column from the those nerves stem from. Manipulation is performed to the spine to properly align the vertebra and eliminate interference.
Misalignments in the spine lead to muscle tightness in the neck and back which impedes the ability of the nervous system to communicate with various structures within the inner ear. This can compromise the ear’s ability to protect itself from infections and to properly drain infected fluids. When drainage of the inner ear is blocked, the fluids can accumulate and cause recurrent infections
Chiropractic Care for Ear Infections
Chiropractic care is a gentle and conservative approach for ear infections. We perform a thorough examination and evaluate the spine for any sign of nerve interference. If detected, we will remove the source of interference with a gentle and specific adjustment.
Symptoms of a frozen shoulder tend to develop over the course of three states. The first stage is when the pain and immobility begins. Generally any movement of the shoulder will cause pain. If left untreated at this stage, the shoulder tends to progress into the full frozen stage. The pain tends to actually go away at this stage and gives the patients a false sense of relief. However, the shoulder then quickly becomes completely stiff and any movement can cause extreme pain or is impossible to perform.
Chiropractic Care for Frozen Shoulder
Chiropractic care is a very effective and safe method to treat cases of frozen shoulder. A treatment plan could consist of applying pressure to the joints near the shoulder to gradually restore mobility and decrease comfort in the area, as well as performing manual therapy and therapeutic exercise. With time and proper treatment, the shoulder goes into the final stage, known as thawing out, where the shoulder’s range of motion begins to improve.
There are 2 most common ways that chiropractic can treat the causes of gastrointestinal dysfunction such as gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD). Through gentle manipulation of the spine, it can pull the stomach back down to it’s normal position below the diaphragm. This allows the diaphragm and lower esophageal sphincter to remain closed preventing the back flow of acid into the esophagus. Second is the cause and effect relationship of the nervous system and the organs throughout the body. Your stomach sends information to the brain through the spine and your brain sends information back to the stomach. If these nerve signals are interfered with, then the messages being sent back and forth get confused. The result is too much acid, not enough acid, undigested food and ultimately the symptoms we associate with heartburn/ indigestion. Chiropractic works to remove the interference with these nerve signals so that body can communicate and function at optimal level.
Golfer’s Elbow (medial epicondylitis) is a painful condition that causes pain where the tendons of your forearm muscles attach to the bony bump on the inside of your elbow. The pain might spread into your forearm and wrist.
Chiropractic Care for Golfer’s Elbow
Chiropractic treatment focuses on the cause of the problem, not just the symptoms. If there is a lot of inflammation around the tendon, treatment may include rest, ice, electrical muscle stimulation and other therapies. Other therapies include transverse friction massage; therapeutic exercises and joint manipulation can be used to help treat the tendonitis.
When the spine moves out of position (misalignment) because of developmental issues, trauma, repetitive stress and other incidents, it can put pressure on those surrounding nerves and irritate them. When those nerves get irritated they send message to muscles of the back, neck and jaw to tighten, which can lead directly to an acute headache or migraine.
Chiropractic Care for Headaches and Migraines
Chiropractic treatment is a gentle and safe approach to overcoming the many causes of headaches and migraines. After a thorough evaluation, we will determine the likely cause of the headache/migraine and the most appropriate treatment methods. Most find that an adjustment that realigns their vertebra is all it takes to stabilize the nervous system function and reduce their headaches and migraines.
Hiatal hernias is when a portion of the stomach slides up through the diaphragm leading to black flow of the stomach acids into the esophagus. There are 2 most common ways that chiropractic can treat the causes of gastrointestinal dysfunction such as hiatal hernias. Through gentle manipulation of the spine, it can pull the stomach back down to it’s normal position below the diaphragm. This allows the diaphragm and lower esophageal sphincter to remain closed preventing the back flow of acid into the esophagus. The result is too much acid, not enough acid, undigested food and ultimately the symptoms we associate with heartburn/ indigestion. There are many different causes of hip pain, as well as symptoms of hip pain. Symptoms can be discomfort and stiffness in your groin, buttock or thigh when you wake up in the morning. Commonly, there can be pain over the side of the hip into the groin, with pain down the front of the thigh and into the knee joint. Pain over the knee can be the most prominent symptom and the hip problem can be overlooked. The pain or discomfort is usually worse with activity, especially weight bearing activity such as walking. Loss of muscle strength and mobility is also often seen, which can result n difficulty running or even walking.
Chiropractic Care for Hip Pain
Apart from examining the hip joint itself, it is important to include examination of the back, knee, ankle and foot, as all of these areas can influence the hip problem. The treatment may involve stretching and therapeutic exercise to the muscles around the area, joint manipulation to restore movement and other physical therapy modalities like ultrasound and interferential stimulation to help reduce inflammation in the joint.

Chiropractic care can start to address the underlying issues that are likely causing knee pain and use a combination of techniques to help alleviate the pain. Some treatments could include transverse friction massage, physical therapy modalities, such as electrical stimulation therapy and ultra sound, and manipulation to the joint to help improve the knees range of motion. Chiropractic care will also evaluate other alignment issues in other areas of the body that may be the cause of the knee pain. For example, limited range of motion in the hips or lower back can put strain on the knees, which can then be painful.
The back is a broad term that covers a large area of the body and is made up of many tendons, ligaments, discs, muscles and bones. Different people experience lower back pain for different reasons including:
Chiropractic Care for Low Back Pain
All of these causes can lead to misalignment of the spine, which can then put pressure on the spinal cord that can cause numbness, tingling and shooting pain in the lower back and legs. By realigning the vertebra in the spine, it can relieve the pressure on the spinal cord and provide relief.
Your neck is comprised of some complicated structures that hold your head up. The small size of the vertebra of the neck allows for a lot of mobility, but can also make your neck more vulnerable to injury and pain.
Causes of neck pain:
Chiropractic Care for neck pain
Most of these issues are either caused by or impact the alignment of the spine. When the muscles in your neck go into spasm, the spine can get pulled out of alignment. When the spine gets misaligned, the nerves can become irritated and cause further tension and pain. Chiropractic care can provide relief by addressing issues with the alignment of the spine.
Osgood-Schllater’s Sydrome is one of the most common causes of knee pain in adolescent athletes. It is caused by stress on the patella tendon that attaches the muscle at the front of the thigh to the lower leg. The tibial tuberosity (the bony bump on the shinbone just below the knee) swells and feels tender when the knee is used.
Symptoms:
Chiropractic Care for Osgood-Schlatter’s Syndrome
After a thorough history and examination to confirm Osgood-Schlatter’s Syndrome, chiropractic treatment includes manual therapies such as transverse friction massage, stretching and physical therapy modalities to help reduce the inflammation and help speed up the recovery. Once the symptoms subside, more stretching and strengthening exercises of the quadriceps, hamstring and calf muscles can be performed to help return the knee to full function.
Plantar Fasciitis affects the heel of the foot by causing it to ache with pain whenever pressure is brought down unto it. The cause of this condition is tears in the tissue running along the bottom of the length of the foot. This can cause ongoing inflammation in the area. Chiropractic care includes manipulation the foot/ankle to increase range of motion, as well as massage and ultrasound therapy to help accelerate the resolution time of the inflammatory process
The piriformis muscle is located deep beneath the fat of the buttocks, near the gluteus maximus region. Piriformis Syndrome is the result of tightness on the muscle, which places force on the sciatic nerve that can cause pain, tenderness, tingling and numbness in the buttocks as well as radiate down the leg all the way to the calf.
Causes
Chiropractic Care for Piriformis Syndrome
To treat Piriformis Syndrome, we develop a treatment plan that starts with spinal manipulations to realign the spine and pelvic joints, which is often the cause. Then use trigger point therapy, massage, stretching and strengthening exercises.
Sciatica, also known as sciatica neuralgia, is a condition that causes pain in the lower back, down the back of the leg and into the foot. It can make sitting and standing for long periods of time difficult and can lead to tingling and numbness and even weakness in the leg and foot. It can come and go throughout a person’s lifetime causing varying degrees of pain and discomfort. If this condition is left untreated, it can grow worse and the nerve can become permanently injured.
Chiropractic Care for Sciatica
To treat sciatica, we will develop a treatment plan that may include spinal manipulation to realign the spine, decompression therapy, manual therapy, therapeutic exercises and McKenzie protocol instructions to help treat the sciatica and provide relief.
Shoulder impingement syndrome occurs when the structures between the top of the humerus (arm bone) and the acromion (tip of the shoulder) become inflamed. This most often occurs as a result of repetitive trauma of the tendon and bursa from raising the arm above the shoulder but can also be caused by walking with crutches or falling on an outstretched arm. Between those bones, are the tendons of the rotator cuff muscles and the bursa that protects them. Impingement occurs when those structures become inflamed and thickened.
Chiropractic Care for Shoulder Impingement Syndrome
Chiropractic care is a very effective and safe method to treat cases of shoulder impingement syndrome. A treatment plan could consist of applying pressure to the joints near the shoulder to gradually restore mobility and decrease comfort in the area, as well as performing manual therapy and therapeutic exercise to the surrounding muscles and tendons.
The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body and is subjected to a wide range of injuries and conditions. If left unchecked, shoulder problems can lead to lifelong issues. It is important to identify the underlying cause of the shoulder pain.
Chiropractic Care for Shoulder Pain
Most of the above causes of shoulder pain point to the spine as probable source of pain. The nerves that control the shoulder originate in the spine and if the vertebrae around the neck and upper back are compressed, the nerves that go to the shoulder will be irritated and cause pain. Even a minor spinal misalignment can interrupt communication between the nerves. The tightened muscles can also cause irritation of the nerves, so by performing manual therapy, stretching exercises and Active Release Technique, most can find relief of pain.
Sinusitis is inflammation of the sinuses, which are the hollow cavities in your skull. Fluid can block these sinuses and can lead to infections that can cause pain and discomfort. You can get sinusitis from allergies, the common cold and many other things.
Chiropractic Care for Sinusitis
Chiropractic care to treat sinusitis may include adjusting your facial bones in order to help improve drainage in your sinus. It is also possible to have a misaligned vertebra in you neck that can cause problems with drainage. Once these obstructions are removed, your sinuses may be able to drain more effectively and reduce the sinus pressure and pain.
Strains and sprains most typically occur when we engage in tasks that our body is not accustomed to, or when we are involved in an accident. These can be extremely painful, and are often accompanied by swelling and bruising of the surrounding area. Strains and sprains in the neck and back tend to involve changes to the alignment of the spine and typically respond well to chiropractic care.
TMJ describes a group of disorders in which the connecting point between the jaw and skull become swollen and painful. The cause of the disorder can vary and in some instances no known cause is ever discovered.
Chiropractic Care for TMJ
Chiropractic care can help alleviate tension and dysfunction in the spine and by doing so, it reduces the pressure on the nerves that are associated with TMJ.
Tendonitis is a condition that occurs when a tendon that connects bone to muscle is injured, overused or even used improperly. The result is inflammation, pain and sometimes swelling. The soft tissue surrounding the area of injury can also become involved.
Chiropractic Care for Tendonitis
Tennis Elbow (lateral epicondylitis) is a painful condition that causes pain where the tendons of your forearm muscles attach to the bony bump on the outside of your elbow. The pain might spread into your forearm and wrist.
Chiropractic Care for Tennis Elbow
Tinnitus is a ringing in the ear and is a symptom of an injury to the upper cervical spine. Many times the tinnitus can stem from a misalignment in the spine. By receiving chiropractic care and correcting the alignment, many individuals find relief.
People who suffer from vertigo state that they feel dizzy when they perceive objects around them spinning and moving. There can be many different causes of vertigo such as severe headaches or migraines, chronic earaches, lack of blood flow to the brain and misalignments or subluxations of the vertebra in the neck.
Chiropractic Care for vertigo
Chiropractic treatment is a gentle and safe approach to overcoming the many causes of vertigo. After a thorough evaluation, we will determine the likely cause of the vertigo and the most appropriate treatment methods. Most find that an adjustment that realigns their vertebra is all it takes to stabilize the nervous system function and cure their vertigo.
Whiplash occurs when the muscles in your neck suffer a strain due to a sudden backward then forward movement. That sudden movement causes your neck’s tendons and ligaments to stretch and possibly tear.
Chiropractic Care for Whiplash
Chiropractic care can provide relief by addressing issues with alignment of the spine as well as the injured soft tissues of the neck. Chiropractic treatments are gentle and non invasive.
